Travelling Suitcase Exhibition
Victorian Quilters Annual Members Challenge
Each year members of Victorian Quilters Inc. are challenged to create a quilt to a set of specific parameters.
Members may enter one quilt, the work of the one person, in the Challenge. Challenge entries to be displayed at Showcase. An entry into the Challenge does not count as one of the three entries members may make into Showcase, Victorian Quilters Inc. annual members quilt exhibition.
The quilters are asked if they will lend their quilt to be part of a travelling exhibition for the 12 months after Showcase. The quilts lent become the Travelling Suitcase Exhibition and travel with their Artist Statements and Showcase award ribbons. The quilts are not returned to their owners until the following years Showcase.
Each year a new Travelling Suitcase Exhibition is formed from quilts entered in the annual Challenge. The Exhibition is available between October and August each year.
The Travelling Suitcase Exhibition can be booked by any VicQuilter member Group to display at their exhibition, quilt-in or any gathering during the year.
Groups are requested to take all possible care with the quilts in the collection whilst in their possession. Please report any concerns regarding the quilts to the Coordinator asap.
There is no cost to have the Exhibition, but the cost of transporting from your group to the next group needs to be covered by the first group. If the suitcase needs to be posted, please discuss a discount postage rate with VicQuilters.
Every effort will be made to share the Travelling Suitcase Exhibition with those Groups who request a viewing, but VicQuilters cannot guarantee that every request can be filled.
