Quilt Appraisal

A quilt is a precious belonging whether you have stitched it yourself or it has been made for you. Whether it is a simple quilt for a bed or a wall hanging, it is valuable.

A Certificate of Appraisal authenticates a quilt’s worth for insurance purposes. We have a team of qualified appraisers who have completed a two-year training program. These quilters give their time and expertise voluntarily as a service provided by Victorian Quilters Inc. to further promote quilting in today’s society.
You do not need to be a member to have a quilt appraised.

The Appraisal Application Form includes instructions on how to pay and how to deliver your quilt for appraisal.  The appraisal venue and the dates for 2026 are shown on the application form.

The Appraisal Application Form is available for download HERE.

Raffle Quilts

Find out the replacement cost of your member group raffle quilt. Have it appraised prior to the raffle for your ticketing logistics. When the raffle is drawn, email us the winner details, so the name on the insurance certificate can be re-issued in the new owner’s name. Knowing it’s value can help sell tickets! Quilt Appraisal Voucher

Member Groups are welcome to purchase a discounted ‘Quilt Appraisal’ voucher to use within the group as a gift or prize. Lots of ways to give back to members – recognition of service, winner of a block challenge, special door prize etc. Send an email to appraisal@victorianquilters.org to organise the voucher.

Member Group Challenges

When your member group has a quilt challenge project (e.g., min-quilts, lap quilts), the collection can now be appraised for insurance purposes with its replacement value. This will cover the quilts when on display at any local public venue. Details are on the ‘Challenge Quilts’ Appraisal Application Form’ – Click Here to access the appraisal application form.

Are you having an exhibition of your work? Have your collection appraised for when on public viewing. The insurance certificate covers replacement cost due to damage, loss or theft.
